The ‘Proud’ Series, shot during the 2011, 2014 and 2015 Gay Pride Parades in New York City, portraits the many faces and forms of self-expression. Intimate moments, bold statements and everything in between – Dominik Prinz was interested in capturing the diverse ways in which individuals reveal a chapter of the journey they are own. The images span all ages, and stories: from the teenager experimenting with his sexual identity for the first time, to the seasoned business man wearing drag publically, even if only for one day a year. This Series is a both a declaration of pride and a testimony to the beauty of diversity.
